The SSW program at Humber College was everything I expected it to be and more. After overcoming a difficult struggle in my own life, my purpose and direction was revealed to me, where I knew without a doubt that I wanted to work in the helping profession. I returned to school as a mature student and I loved being part of this program. The program was flexible and convenient and allowed me to take courses when I had the time in my schedule to take them. The professors were amazing, and I learned so much from them, and found their personal experiences working in the field very valuable to my learning experience.
The program content was rich with valuable education that gave me the credentials to acquire a job working with women with addictions. I am currently working at Carmelina’s Home, a long term residential program for women with addictions, substance abuse and emotional issues. As a graduate of the SSW program I was able to confidently start a new career with confidence and the required education credentials necessary to obtain the job I wanted. I have since set my goals higher, and am attending McMaster University, as well, in hopes of obtaining my BSW. I have learned that it is never too late to start over and make your dreams come true.
